The client

Our long standing client has had previous new cars ceramic coated by us having had a less than perfect experience with a main dealer applying a coating. This new Porsche Mecan had been ordered a while ago and the client has been waiting for many months for delivery. Needless to say he was very keen to give the car the best protection with a full new car detail and ceramic coating.

The Preparation

When applying a full ceramic coat it is essential that the paintwork is prepared correctly for the coating. A ceramic coat effectively seals the paint for many years and it is essential that the paint is blemish free and clean (to alloy the coating to bond to the paint correctly).

Paint preparation starts with a full wash including wheels, wheel arches and door shuts before a soak in snow foam to release the dirt from the paintwork. The car is then washed using the two bucket method and dried using a microfiber drying towel.

Once the car is clean the paint is machine polished. Even brand new cars will have imperfections in the paintwork and the machine polishing removes these. This Mecan was polished using a fine pad and polish and a dual action polisher.

Once polished the paintwork is wiped down with an IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) based panel wipe to remove any polish residue and polishing oils leaving a perfectly clean finish.

The Coating

Trinity coating by Pyramid Car Care is an industry leading ceramic coating. The coating is carried in a solvent unlike poorer quality ceramic sprays or ceramic waxes. The coating is applied in small areas, one panel at a time, and buffed to perfection as the solvent evaporates. As it cures the coating chemically bonds to the surface of the paintwork. The cured coating is resistant to strong chemicals and UV rays from the sun (this is how waxes, sealants and poor quality coatings are broken down).

The Results

Trinity Coating is described as ‘more durable, hydrophobic and glossy than ever before’ by the manufacturer and we can see why. The car looks amazing!
